The End of the World, 2008
In the series of drawings The End of the World, it’s the blank surface of the paper which charges every drawing. This where the world ends, in emptiness. Flowing ink and a fine pen have been used to extricate the other, the existing. The landscape, the trees and the creatures. The UV light which illuminates each painting reinforces the white of the paper and spreads an atmosphere of dusk or dawn. Shadows behave differently at dawn. I’m not sure whether I’m on an island, but it could well be.
